Indian Welding Journal :
The official technical journal called ‘INDIAN WELDING JOURNAL’ is published quarterly. Articles on Welding Technology of very high standard are published. Articles of interest on welding from other technical journals in the country or abroad are also printed in this journal. Interesting technical papers presented during the International Welding Seminars/ Assemblies are also printed in the Indian Welding Journal.
Seminars- Workshops- Technical Courses
The Institute holds the National Welding Seminar and the International Welding Conference in November/ December every alternate year at different places, which is attended by members from India and abroad. The branches also hold their Annual Seminars , workshops, refresher courses, training courses etc, for the benefit of the people of their regions.
Other allied Activities :
The Institute has established Technical Commissions, Sub-commissions and Study groups on the same lines as those of the International Institute of Welding. These commissions report on the technical committee of the Institute, and liaise with the International Commission.
The Institute conducts Associate Membership Examinations twice a year to offer an education programme and certification for Human Resource Development and Career opportunities besides incentives for persons in the profession. The course curriculum, syllabi of the examination have been so designed as to have equivalence with the Engineering Degree as offered by the Indian Universities, or the professional bodies like The Institution of Engineers, The Indian Institute of Metals, etc.
is a National Professional Body for the advancement of Welding Technology in the country, was established in April 1966 with the Head Office at Calcutta. Prior to that, an Indian Branch of the Institute of welding, London was functioning in India from April 1948. The Institute is now affiliated to the International Institute of welding.
To promote the advancement of science & technology of welding and its allied subjects by organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, refresher courses etc. at different places.
i.To provide technical guidance and consultations to industries and educational institutions.
ii.To provide technical information on welding research & education.
iii. To conduct Associate Membership Examinations equivalent to a Degree Examination so as to offer an education programme and certification for Human Resource Development and career opportunities besides incentives for personnels in professions.
iv. To publish, issue and circulate technical journals, periodicals, booklets etc. on various subjects and to establish and maintain a library service for welding personnels.
v. To co-ordinate and liaise with other technical organizations.
